Terrorism Assessment and Awareness
The world is currently facing a range of terrorist threats and attacks
Sometimes from organisations, sometimes from ‘lone wolf’ attacks. The modus operandi varies from IED’s, guns, knives to cars and lorries and kidnapping which has been seen globally from Africa to France, Bali, London, Manchester, Brussels, Berlin and the USA.
The advent of ISIS showed the world that terrorists come in all shapes, sizes, genders and nationalities (e.g. homegrown terrorists) and hail from different backgrounds. Some terrorists prefer to work within a group with shared ideology and rhetoric, some get their ideas from the internet and online videos but what every attack has shown us is the amount of preparation that is being put into every strike. Spontaneous strikes are less common than they used to be.
There are lessons to be learnt from every incident and time after time human error or complacency comes into play. Security personnel have to be alert 24/7 and have to be suspicious of everyone and every event as there is no memo to detail what will happen and when.
A truly determined terrorist can be hard to stop but what this course will give you is an awareness and background to the terrorist story.
